Higgins Design Studio is a full service interiors firm, specializing in high-end residential and commercial design. Founded in 1991, we help busy professionals effortlessly create distinctive homes and offices that support and inspire their lives.

Principal and Founder

Heather Higgins, the firm’s Principal and Founder, has over 30 years of experience successfully creating residential and commercial interiors. Her exceptional track record includes design and management roles with respected architectural interiors firms, including Gensler and Associates, The Switzer Group and Griswold Heckel and Kelly. As a project manager for Merrill Lynch and later, as a real estate officer with Chemical Bank, she oversaw the design of corporate facilities by outside consultants.

Heather’s entrepreneurial ambitions surfaced in the late 1980s, as a Director of Hanenburg Young, a mid-size residential design firm, whose work has appeared in Architectural Digest. In 1991, Heather founded her own firm, Higgins Design Studio, which specializes in high-end residential and corporate office interior design. She has also consulted, both domestically and internationally, on restaurant, country club and hotel design.

Heather earned her B.S. in Marketing from Drexel University, an A.A.S. in Interior Design, cum laude, from the Fashion Institute of Technology and studied Construction Management at New York University. She has received NCIDQ (National Counsel for Interior Design Qualification) certification and is a licensed New York State Certified Interior Designer.

A member of ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) and Toastmasters international, Heather was featured on House & Garden Television’s “Designer's Challenge” program. Her projects have been published in the book “Contemporary Kitchens: A Style Portfolio” and several magazines, including the luxury lifestyle publication, Doggie Aficionado. She has also been featured online in the Wall Street Journal.
